NNBN Director joins Advisory Group to help fight Cyber Threat Challenges

NNBN Director Simon Cox has been appointed to the East Midlands Cyber Resilience Centre (EMCRC) Advisory Group to help raise awareness of the support for Northamptonshire businesses with cyber threat challenges.

This appointment reflects both Simon’s long-standing commitment to supporting Northamptonshire’s business community and NNBN’s ongoing dedication to promoting stronger cyber resilience across the region.

The EMCRC Advisory Group plays a crucial role in providing strategic and tactical insight from business and third-sector perspectives. Its purpose is to help the Centre enhance its impact on strengthening regional cyber resilience, shaping effective strategies, and encouraging collaboration across sectors to tackle current and emerging cyber threats.

NNBN work closely with micro and small businesses as the Northamptonshire Business Network, many of whom have faced challenges related to online crime and digital security and have been engaging with the EMCRC as one of its Community Ambassadors, supporting its mission to ensure that organisations across the East Midlands have access to essential guidance and resources.

The appointment of Simon, who is also the Head of Policy for the Northamptonshire Chamber of Commerce, to the EMCRC Advisory Group further strengthens this partnership and aligns with the belief that cyber resilience is now fundamental to business success and continuity.

Upon his appointment to the EMCRC’s Advisory Group, Detective Inspector Colin Ellis, Managing Director and Police Lead of the EMCRC, said: “I’m really pleased to have Simon join our Regional Advisory Group. Simon is a true business champion, particularly of Northamptonshire businesses, where he brings real energy to doing all he can to help and enable the business community thrive. ”

“He understands the demands of running a small business and his insight in helping us hone our message and boost our reach will be essential as we look to help make organisations across the East Midlands become more cyber resilient.”

Simon said “I’m delighted to have joined the Advisory Group of the EMCRC to help improve engagement between the EMCRC and the Northamptonshire business community. In this day and age, it’s important that dialogue happens and key information is shared with businesses to help them counteract cyber security challenges that are experienced by businesses regularly.”
